Single Tooth Crown

Before and after photos of a recent dental restoration consisting of a single tooth dental crown (or “cap”).

A tooth crown procedure typically requires two appointments. Your first appointment will include taking multiple impressions (molds). The impressions will be used to craft your custom crown. A temporary crown will stay on your tooth for 2-3 weeks while your new crown is fabricated.

After your tooth is numb, Dr. Kaines or Dr. Cosper will prepare the tooth by shaping the surface and removing decay so the crown fits properly. Then your temporary crown will be placed with temporary cement and your dentist will check your bite to assure you are biting properly and comfortably.

At your second appointment, your dentist will remove your temporary crown, clean your tooth, and place your new crown with careful attention to your bite and proper spacing. Your dentist will provide you with care instructions and encourage regular visits to check your new crown and other teeth.
